How Heat Pumps Work

An air source heat pump works like a refrigerator in reverse - it extracts heat from the outside air and uses it to warm your home and hot water. Even when it's cold outside, there's enough energy in the air for the pump to work efficiently.

Modern heat pumps deliver 3-4 units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed, making them 3-4 times more efficient than a traditional boiler.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme

The government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) provides grants of up to £7,500 towards the cost of an air source heat pump. This significantly reduces the upfront cost, often making a heat pump cheaper than a new gas boiler when the grant is applied.

We handle the entire BUS application process as part of our service.

Is My Home Suitable?

Heat pumps work best in well-insulated homes but can be effective in most UK properties. During our free survey, we assess your insulation levels, current heating system, available outdoor space, and hot water requirements to determine suitability.

Heat Pump + Solar PV

Pairing a heat pump with solar panels is one of the most efficient home energy combinations. Your solar panels can generate the electricity needed to run the heat pump, effectively providing free heating during daylight hours.
